Help, I need somebody.
I've not been in Asia for a long time, 8 years in total including time spent in Taipei, Taiwan – but I can say that during this time I have seen a variety of beggars. It has gotten to the point where they are almost transparent to me. I see victims who have been burned from head to toe, or young children with one parent, or more common, those born with lost limbs or deficiencies... but on this night I simply saw a man standing with two hands out. This was one of the rarer instances where there was no kow-towing or banging one's head on the concrete floor – just one man gesturing for help.
